Celebrating Youth

Acknowledging young achievers

The Young Champions Awards recognise the achievements and dedication of our young people. This recognition is to further fuel that drive within them to provide a brighter future not just for themselves but for the broader community.

The Young Champions Awards were established in May 2019 when Brian Laul assembled a a group of like-minded community leaders under the umbrella of Rainbow Crossing Inc. to recognise achievements of young people in the local Macarthur area. From the initial idea being shared with local businesses and community groups, a strong momentum quickly grew.

More than 120 young people were nominated across 20+ categories (individual, groups, special needs) and recognised before a sell-out crowd at Wests Leagues Club, Leumeah, at the inaugural event. The event’s success as well as the strong sense of pride and purpose that it gave the young nominees convinced us that we should share this event with other local communities.

Past Highlights

Fuelling confidence, purpose  and aspiration

Today, the Young Champions Awards continue to grow, with annual events now held across multiple regions including Macarthur (Campbelltown, Camden & Wollondilly LGAs), Cumberland & Parramatta, Greater Western Sydney (Liverpool, Fairfield & Cabramatta LGAs), and the Nepean region (Penrith, Hawkesbury & Blue Mountains LGAs).

Each event carries the same core mission: to uplift young voices, celebrate positive role models, and build stronger, more hopeful communities through recognition and encouragement.

RECOGNISED IN NSW PARLIAMENT

We were honoured to be recognised several times in NSW Parliament, more recently by David Saliba MP, Member for Fairfield and Judith Hannan MP, Member for Wollondilly.

Acknowledging each winner for their achievements, Mr Saliba said, “I thank Rainbow Crossing, local partners, schools and community leaders for supporting this uplifting celebration of youth excellence and community pride”.

Ms Hannan said, “The Awards are empowering positive change through recognising the achievements of our young people and the valuable contribution they make to the local community. Rainbow Crossing Incorporated works to motivate young people to chase their dreams and the Macarthur Young Champions Awards are a chance to reflect on the hard work and dedication of our youth.”
