Rainbow Crossing is committed to:
- making the performing arts experience accessible especially to young people in regional Australia through workshops and performances;
- helping people foster creativity, develop strong communication skills and encourage the kind of innovative thinking necessary to meet daily challenges through the arts;
- introducing children to the joys and experience of being a part of live theatre.
Through our drama and theatre workshops, young people are given a safe, supportive space to explore self-expression, storytelling and imagination. These workshops support emotional wellbeing, improve public speaking and literacy skills, and help participants develop empathy by stepping into different roles and perspectives.
For many young people, drama becomes a powerful tool for finding their voice, forming friendships, and building resilience, skills that extend far beyond the stage and into school, work and life.
THE WIZARD OF OZ INTERACTIVE SHOW – WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE
Making theatre accessible, inclusive and transformative for young people
Rainbow Crossing continues to achieve its vision through meaningful collaborations with educators, performing arts companies and community organisations, ensuring our programs are culturally responsive, youth-centred and community-driven.
One of our most enduring collaborations has been with The Wizard of Oz Interactive Show, a unique and vibrant re-telling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz that goes far beyond traditional theatre. The production blends interactive performance with striking community initiatives, Oz-themed festivals and multicultural engagement, inviting children to participate, respond, and truly become part of the story.
The show proudly celebrated its 5,000th performance worldwide in 2019, a testament to its enduring impact and global reach.
While there are no performances currently scheduled, bringing live theatre and drama experiences back to communities, particularly for children and young people, is very much part of Rainbow Crossing’s future vision. Watch this space
