Building multicultural inclusion and understanding between people
Recognised as South-West Sydney’s premier multicultural event for children, the Macarthur Multicultural Children’s Festival attracts thousands of families each year and continues to grow as one of the most beloved community events in the Macarthur region.
It is a great way to bring the community together, and to highlight the importance of cultural diversity.
The Festival is an opportunity to learn about different cultures by enjoying traditional performances, sampling food and understanding more about a friend’s culture by getting involved in the many activities.
The Festival is a unique family event that will inspire members of our community to embrace our shared values and cultural traditions at a grassroots level.
Launched in August 2018, the Macarthur Multicultural Children’s Festival is organised annually, bringing over 50 diverse groups together to proudly showcase their culture.
“This festival is all about bringing people together through shared experiences,” said Festival Founder and Co-Director Brian Laul.
“Whether it’s dancing to rhythms from across the world, tasting new foods, or having your name written in a different language, there are endless ways for children and families to connect, learn, and celebrate what makes our community so wonderfully diverse.”

Vibrant day of discovery, diversity and family fun
The festival features a Cultural Discovery Trail, where children can grab a passport and collect stamps as they explore different cultural stalls, learning about colours, sounds, tastes and traditions from around the globe, with prizes to be won along the way. There’s also a large Cultural Costume Parade with marching bands and pageantry.
“We believe children who play together grow up to live together in harmony,” Laul added.
“And this festival is where that spirit begins — with joy, laughter and meaningful moments that help us all appreciate the beautiful cultures around us.”
Festival Co-Director Ronna Guzman echoed the sentiment saying, “This is a grassroots celebration of multiculturalism that invites everyone to take part. We see families from all walks of life enjoying the day, and we’re proud to create a space where children can feel proud of who they are, and curious about who others are too.”
